Getting to us

With regular flights to the nearest airport, Faro, and even more to Lisbon , only 3 hours  away, access is easy. The nearest town is Lagoa ; Carvoeiro is about 4 km south and is well sign-posted. There are good new motorways in Portugal ; the A2 connects Lisbon with the Algarve and the A22 runs right along the Algarve . Be aware, however, that this, like all Portuguese motorways is a toll motorway with cameras, not pay booths. Any time-saving you make will be lost queuing at the post office to pay the toll fees. Car hire companies offer transponders, in which case you don’t have a problem. If you want to avoid the motorway, take the EN125 road (a couple of kilometres before the motorway entry). The signpost is ‘Almancil´ and ‘Portimão’.

We don’t recommend taxis from Faro as the cost (around 120 Euros on the meter, each way). Alternatively, if you don’t want to drive, we now offer our own airport service with a 7-seat people carrier, The price is 50€ each way regardless of numbers or baggage and we wait for your flight and deliver you back to the airport without the inconvenience and delays of normal airport transfers. Please contact us by email to make a booking!

If you prefer a traditional airport transfer, try Hoppa. This is an unscheduled shared minibus service which you book online; they wait for your flight then take you to where you want to go. Hoppa is a lot cheaper than a taxi but you have the disadvantage of long journey times, waiting for other flights and being delivered back to the airport way too early.

From Lagoa, head towards Carvoeiro. From the village entrance sign “Praia do Carveiro” follow the one way system until you reach the square, turn left here, the (Hotel Carvoeiro Sol should now be directly in front of you – blue and white building), go directly ahead up the hill (hotel should now be on your right hand side as you pass it), you will pass restaurants, bars and the Hotel Mirachoro (set back from the road on your left hand side).

Once past the hotel, take the first turning right “Rua das Flores” (Primaveira Restaurant, just after Villa Medici). Go directly to the end of this road, the sea and cliffs will be directly in front of you – following the coast road around to the right.

Follow this road, looking out for a church on your left and school on your right…only another 50 metres or so…head down the hill and Casa Luiz is on your right. You can ignore the ‘no entry’ signs by the church as they exclude residents and the police; you are a resident. There is parking outside Casa Luiz or, if that’s full, at the church car park.
